Illinois utility and supply eligibility guide

Choose the commodity and delivery utility to find the right questions. This is educational routing, not an address lookup, supplier approval or determination that an account can switch.

Try your own numbers

Example inputs are illustrative. Your entries stay in this browser tab; no account details, storage or analytics.

Electric and gas eligibility can differ at the same address.
Read the delivery utility on the bill. A supplier name is not enough.

How the calculation works

This guide uses explicit utility-and-commodity branches based on official choice and transportation information. It does not query an account, infer service from a city or claim that municipal and cooperative electric systems follow ComEd/Ameren enrollment rules.

Use inputs you can defend

Read the units and use a consistent billing period. Defaults are examples; replace them with values relevant to your decision. If a cost is unknown, the result cannot establish that it is zero. Keep excluded charges in a separate budget and compare the same service scope before judging two alternatives. You can print this page for your own records without creating a website inquiry.

Make the decision trail reviewable

Keep the signed agreement, pricing schedule, sales representations and utility notices together. Record who was authorized to act, what was agreed and when. If a problem develops, a clear chronology is more useful than an unsupported conclusion about motive. Do not share account credentials or full bills in an open message field. Use the provider or regulator’s appropriate secure channel when documentation is needed.

Match the rule to the customer

Household, small-commercial, larger-commercial and municipal accounts can be governed by different requirements. A consumer protection discussed on a public page should not be assumed to cover every business agreement. Check the current official rule and service class. When the issue involves legal rights, liability or a deadline, get help through an official consumer channel or a qualified adviser instead of relying on a generic website summary.

Separate approval from information gathering

A request to review an offer does not require authorizing a supplier contract. Verify whether a proposed form is merely a data release, a broker authorization or an actual enrollment agreement. Ask what information is needed and why. Have a designated account decision-maker evaluate changes; staff handling unsolicited calls should know how to route them without disclosing unnecessary information.

Keep the inputs private

These calculations run on this page using your browser. They do not save values to local storage, attach figures to a review request or send them to a server. If you choose to ask a question, the review link may select only the inquiry type. Closing or refreshing the page discards your edits. The print button opens your browser’s print dialog.
